Nodiant - a single solution for better analysis and faster working
History
The evolution of Nodiant reaches back to our first discussions with the Football Association of Wales (FAW). As the governing body of a small but highly ambitious footballing nation, the FAW were struggling with a number of data challenges. At the time they were using a number of quite different sources of software to output the final solution they needed for analysis and struggled to disseminate this information across a diverse organisation. This was inefficient and frustrating, often needing users to become expert with quite different software that rarely worked together. This mismatched collection of tools was an obvious bottleneck that was proving expensive in both time and money. On top of these problems was the issue of administration and cost. Multiple licenses to manage from different software sources, often disproportionately expensive and underutilised for the needs of an organisation with a limited budget. Something needed to be done to rationalise and reduce the overhead into a single solution.
From these problems Nodiant was born. Not overnight, but as an iterative process of discussion and development between analysts, managers and our expert engineers. SportsViz had a proven track record within rugby of developing innovative software solutions at affordable cost. Could we do the same and more for football? Starting from first principles of what information is needed and to whom it needed to be communicated, Nodiant started its evolution and has grown over several years into the comprehensive suite of today. As you read this, Nodiant now gives the FAW a single integrated suite of tools, delivered through a single site-license that serves all of its current and future users. Further development is on-going, as innovation and circumstances evolve, bringing the FAW and SportsViz together as trusted partners, on an exciting journey, as new technologies such as AI emerge to change the future of analysis.
A comprehensive suite of video annotation software for professional users. Nodiant Coder-Pro, built for the Apple Mac platform, it is a powerful desktop solution capable of delivering everything an analyst needs to produce professional results. Designed by leading analysts, it is intuitive, easy to use and has an optimised workflow to improve the efficiency and productivity of analysts.
- Clipping templates - customisable clip and detail buttons.
- Video - capture (using Blackmagic hardware or USB adaptor), import, supports multiple angles.
- Timeline - clip editing, multiple timelines, import and export XML timelines. Supports live coding and timeline coding.
- Creator - presentations featuring timeline clips, details/notes, exportable as video.
- Illustration - draw shapes onto video footage, player circles, image importing.
A minimalist version of the Coder-Pro designed for Apple phone and Tablet environments. Nodiant Coder-Lite is targeted at grass-roots coaches, scouts or non-professional analysts in clubs and organisations that have neither the budget or resources to use a professional desktop tool. Despite this, the Coder-lite still packs a punch in being able to deliver useable coding information in a very user-friendly package, that is quick and easy learn.
A comprehensive online platform designed to bring together the many strands of analysis & team information and to disseminate these across a whole organisation easily and with a simple workflow. This is a version of the Coder-Pro delivered specifically for the needs of academic teaching and learning. Delivering all of the functionality a professional analyst would expect, the Nodiant Coder-Academic provides a familiar analysis environment in a package that is easy to use and intuitive to learn for inexperienced students. For academic institutions currently facing severe cost challenges, it is priced aggressively to meet their budget constraints and sold as a single site license to cover all of their user requirements without any expensive add-ons or limitations. SportsViz are currently working with academic partners to further develop the software in a way that will over time further enhance the learning process and simplify the administration of teaching.
